Frequently Asked Questions

What is a sunroom?
Sunroom is a generic word used to describe various forms of additions with more than 70% glass in the sidewall area of the room. At W.A. Zimmer Company, your vision of how you want your room to look and perform drives the design process so that your room is built to your expectations. We accomplish this through an initial planning meeting where we can hear your ideas and exchange information to develop a design concept to work from that fits into your vision of your new room.

What size are the W.A. Zimmer  sunrooms?
Size is developed through discussion about your needs for family gatherings, type and quantity of furniture you intend to use in the room and other factors which of course, include your budget. Size limits are usually only as a result of property lines, existing home construction, codes or budget constraints.

Can you provide a cost per square foot?
That is a great question. Room prices are controlled by many factors including foundation and floor requirements, height of walls and foundation, number of windows in the wall area, type of siding applied to the exterior, roof pitch (or angle), level or cathedral ceiling, size and additional factors that may be unique to each construction site. Once we have an understanding of what you want to accomplish and know that your room may be built in the area you select, we can provide an itemized price that corresponds with the exact specifications developed for your project.

What type of windows are used in a W.A. Zimmer sunroom?
The windows are the major ingredient in every sunroom. Therefore we take care in selecting a glass product that meets your specifications. Some customers want to match the windows in their home, others want large expanses of glass that require tempered units to meet building codes. The tempered glass is four times stronger than regular glass. We highly recommend our HPG 2000 glass series, an exclusive W.A. Zimmer product that decreases solar heat gain and provides protection against harmful ultraviolet rays. Just like the entire design of your room, window selection is based on your wants and needs.

Will a W.A. Zimmer Sunroom match my house?
As you get to know us and the way we do business, you will be pleased to discover that we can build to any vision as long as we know what you want to accomplish. We can match your home within the limits of product availability, building codes and practical consideration. We want our product to please you and every potential customer who visits you or gets a glimpse of your new room.

How long will it take to build my W.A. Zimmer sunroom?
